Our client is a Boston-based financial investment firm that serves over twenty million customers. They employ tens of thousands of individuals and manage trillions of dollars in assets. With almost a century of experience, this financial services company is an industry leader, both nationally and globally. Our client is known for being a great place to work, and they are looking for a Mongo Database Engineer to join their team.

What You'll Do:

  • Automate daily operations, monitoring, installation, and configuration of database and application servers and production application deployment
  • Perform database administration throughout the entire system development life cycle 
  • Collaborate closely with other teams, especially DevOps
  • Manage Operational Engineer; evaluate emerging technologies and make recommendations to promote operational efficiencies 
  • Responsible for Database Engineering and Architecture of Open source technologies, preferably in MongoDB and MariaDB
  • Proficient in strong communication and documentation of the services offered in DBaaS world 
  • Work with System Analysts/Developers to review and optimize logical data models/database scripts and implement them into the physical database
  • Contribute to or write concise and clear technical systems design documents based on the analysis of complex business requirements
  • Monitor progress, work quality and risk of the projects; escalate situations needing management attention
  • Take ownership of the technology deliverables and provide leadership needed to complete a project of the highest quality, on time and within budget
  • Share written and spoken information in a way that is understood by those needing the information: able to tell the story with different audiences [business, technology, stake holders etc.]

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or equivalent work experience required; Advanced degree is beneficial
  • At least 2 years of experience in data modeling is preferred
  • Extensive hands-on experience with MongoDB and MariaDB
  • Extensive hands-on experience with enterprise DBMS preferably in Oracle 
  • Deep understanding of the Agile framework and the DevOps approach
  • Strong understanding of Linux and Windows Internals
  • Experience with Git or other source control software
  • Experience with and solid understanding of Devops 
  • Able to be a database administrator who can automate all the tasks related to the DBA function as well as the deployment and management of the infrastructure
  • Able to work both in a team environment and independently 
  • Strong track record of successful implementation of data projects and solutions
  • Experience responding to and resolving database access and performance issues
  • Experience interpreting database error messages and the ability to execute recovery of database instance, data or other pertinent database components
