**Remote start, expected to be onsite at some point.**

Our industry-leading client is looking for a Mainframe Programmer to join their team. You will start remotely, but will be required to sit onsite in office locations in NYC or NJ when required.

This is a contract to hire opportunity. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis and convert to FTE following contract duration. Responsibilities of the Mainframe Programmer:
  • Review, analyze, and modify programming systems including encoding, testing, debugging and installing for a large-scale mainframe computer system
  • Maintain and develop online and batch application programs
  • Develop and implement a disaster recovery plan
  • Work with project members to develop specifications, diagrams, and flowcharts
  • Lead the technical design, development, integration, testing, installation, documentation, and maintenance of highly complex business applications
  • Develop solutions to highly complex business and technical problems, and also coach technical staff regarding software development and tools
Requirements of the Mainframe Programmer:
  • At least 8 years of mainframe development experience - COBOL, CICS, and DB2 
  • In-depth knowledge of the software development life cycle including systems design, database systems, networking, operating systems, programming techniques, and technical documentation
  • Strong system design, software engineering, problem solving, analytical and research skills
  • Extensive experience in technical applications and/or information systems, or equivalent
  • Knowledge of programming languages
