Working with leaders in information security, development, and IT, you will be responsible for provisioning, deploying, configuring, and administering network and security-related hardware and software for a prominent national association. Utilizing both network savvy and technical know-how, you'll do more than just manage equipment -- you'll be given the opportunity to develop security policies, review equipment specifications, make recommendations, and define what cyber security can do to meet the ambitious needs of an important program.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Testing for Network Vulnerabilities:  The network security engineer will work with a larger information security team to evaluate, test, and troubleshoot technologies. They are expected to identify, diagnose, and resolve information security issues.
  • Prepare Reports: Based on findings, network security engineer will write comprehensive reports including assessment-based findings, outcomes, and propositions for further system security enhancement.
  • Produce Documentation: To ensure proper protocols and processes are in place, network security engineer will create and maintain comprehensive documentation related to server and security infrastructure.
  • Create Network Security Policies: Network security engineer will play a role in devising comprehensive network security policies. This includes determining security issues that need to be addressed; identifying security strategies needed to deal with the risks; implementing policies for allocating administrative tasks; keeping on top of audit logs to flag suspicious activity; and devising network password procedures.
  • Maintain Relationships with Vendors: Network Security Engineer will keep strong relationships with integrators and vendors to maintain upgrades, installations, and planning alongside exploration of new features and innovative solutions.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited College or University (Required.)
  • CompTIA Security+ OR CISSP certification (Required.)
  • US Citizenship (Required.)
  • 2+ years of experience
  • Enterprise firewall experience -- configuring and managing enterprise firewalls and gateway devices
  • Familiarity with Cisco, LAN/WAN concepts, application firewalls, SIEM, IDS/IPS, Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Microsoft Windows
  • Adaptability -- network security engineers typically work as a member of several teams, requiring flexibility and adaptability
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Active Public Trust Clearance (Strongly preferred. Candidates who are clearable will also be considered.)
Engagement and Compensation

This is a 6 month contract-to-hire position with full benefits available. This position is based in Suitland, MD. The salary for this role is $85,000 to $100,000, depending on years of experience and suitability.
