Eliassen Group’s Program Agile Coaches provide coaching, mentoring, training and facilitation support focusing primarily on the Program level of an organization’s Agile Journey. The coach is an Agile servant leader enabling an organization to become self-sufficient in delivering value across complex programs.

Responsibilities of the Agile Program Coach:
  • Mentor, coach, and enable client to become self-sustainable in championing organizational change towards the Agile transformation in areas including:
    • Lean-Agile principles and experience to assist teams in providing the highest value and best possible solutions
    • Scaling concepts, dependency management, prioritization, and hypothesis validation 
    • Cadence and synchronization across teams
    • Servant Leadership, creating environments for success
    • Identify bottlenecks and dependencies across teams and support organizational level convergence management activities
    • Product Owners and stakeholder alignments of prioritization and success outcomes
    • Program level metrics and communication of program related information to stakeholders
Requirements of the Agile Program Coach:
  • Multiple (3+) engagements supporting large scale Agile transformations with a focus on program level coaching, helping an Agile Center of Excellence (ACoE) and Agile Transformation Team begin to scale an Agile transformation
  • Expertise with helping organizations scale Agile; well-versed in applying various scaling frameworks
  • Possess the ability to objectively coach and guide an organization in choosing and adopting a framework that works best for their organization and culture
  • Executive/Leadership Level Change Management/Agile Coaching/ Professional Coaching skills and experience
  • Specialized skill set in one or more of the following areas: Technical, Business, Product, and/or Organizational Development
  • Track record of coaching teams and leadership to bring forth and resolve impediments that exist within and outside of the teams’ area of influence
  • Strong facilitation and diplomatic skills with the ability to connect with an organization to bring the right people to resolve impediments quickly
  • Demonstrated success illustrating the value of an Agile mindset with non-technical groups and teams
Key Traits for Success:
  • Outcome-driven, approachable individual with a practical and pragmatic approach to Agile adoptions and transformations that will both enable adoption of Agile practices while meeting delivery goals
  • Ability to explain Agile and its value to executives and teams that are both new to Agile and don’t work as part of a technical group, providing real-world, examples and reference stories for how Agile is applied in “their world”
  • Ability to switch between different coaching modes (mentoring, teaching, coaching) by modeling the appropriate behavior needed to align with your teams and programs as needed   
  • Can draw on many years of real-world (not theory/framework based) experiences to help articulate the value of business outcomes by leverage Agile principles – linking theory to practice at all levels
  • Self-aware, active listener who can build a rapport and trust with managers and executives quickly
  • Leverages credibility as coach to continuously reinforce attention and resolution to highest priority impediments
  • Ability to meet Executives where they are in their Agile journey and co-create the path forward
