Our client is seeking a Flight Test Engineer to support experimental aircraft flight test activities focused on Environmental Control Systems (ECS) and thermal management systems. The role will support flight operations, monitor aircraft system performance, analyze test data, and collaborate with engineering teams to assess and mitigate system risks.
This is a contract to hire opportunity. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis and convert to FTE following contract duration. Rate: $65.00 to $75.00/hr. w2
Responsibilities:
- Support flight test operations for ECS and thermal management systems.
- Develop working knowledge of existing aircraft systems and equipment bay layouts.
- Create, maintain, and review IADS real-time monitoring displays.
- Monitor liquid cooling loops, air cooling and fan performance, temperature instrumentation, and other critical system parameters during flight test events.
- Support flight operations from the flight test control room and communicate directly with the Test Conductor, Test Director, and flight test engineering teams.
- Process, analyze, and review flight test data.
- Prepare technical documentation and flight test reports.
- Partner with design engineering teams to identify, assess, and monitor thermal and system risks.
- Provide limited support for test planning activities as needed.
Experience Requirements:
- 5+ years of engineering experience.
- Experience processing, analyzing, and reporting on engineering test data.
- Proficiency with data analysis tools such as MATLAB, Python, or Excel.
- Ability to interpret engineering schematics, instrumentation data, and test procedures.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a hands-on flight test environment.
- Eligible to support ITAR and export-controlled programs.
- Ability to work full-time onsite in Newton, KS, with occasional travel to Frisco, TX.
- Preferred: Aerospace flight test experience.
- Preferred: Experience with IADS or similar real-time test data monitoring tools.
- Preferred: Familiarity with aircraft ECS, liquid cooling, air cooling systems, and thermal management systems.
- Preferred: Experience with control room or flight test radio communications.
- Preferred: Experience working with temperature, pressure, flow, or related instrumentation.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
Skills, experience, and other compensable factors will be considered when determining pay rate. The pay range provided in this posting reflects a W2 hourly rate; other employment options may be available that may result in pay outside of the provided range.
