Job Description

My industry leading client is looking for a Data Engineer to come in and hit the ground running.

As a Data Engineer you will be responsible for:
  • Implementing and monitoring Data Management controls for Line of Business systems and data; identify and remediate related process or control gaps in the data quality space
  • Executing, monitoring and analyzing data quality metrics and reporting; derive insights and identifying targeted Line of Business improvements
  • Performing root cause analysis for data issues identified during data quality execution and providing findings to the LOBs for remediation
  • Present analysis results as trend charts and other reports to give LOBs valuable insights
  • Proactively identifying process and automation improvements for Data Quality practices
  • Performing unit tests and conducting reviews with other team members to make sure code is rigorously designed, elegantly coded, and effectively tuned for performance
  • Sharing your passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies
  • Collaborating effectively across multiple organizations and roles including Line of Business data SMEs, technical teams, Business Risk Offices and Risk Management
  • Leading and executing specific operational initiatives and projects as assigned using cloud based technologies
  • Developing controls to ensure process is well-managed and requirements are met as required by Policies
  • Driving the identification of risks, associated controls and their treatment, within the individual areas of FS Data and Tech organizations, informing decisions of Accountable Executives.
  • Providing governance around the Risk Reporting for TECH (internally and externally) ensuring key messages are understood and actions are underway, providing risk input, context and challenge.
  • Previous experience in data analysis job function with experience in performing deep root cause analysis and providing recommendations
  • Has extensive knowledge and experience in working with complex SQL
  • Foundational understanding of Cloud infrastructure concepts and execution
  • Has experience in cloud computing technologies such as AWS and coding languages such as Python
  • Operational data management and governance
  • Experience in reporting tools such as Tableau
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Clear technical, organizational and communication skills to work with diverse business and technical areas
  • Exposure to Agile methodologies
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • At least 5 years of Technology experience
  • Experience with exposure to data governance and management
  • Expertise in writing SQL queries
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure or another public cloud service
  • Experience in at least one scripting language (Python,JavaScript, Shell)
  • Experience in at least one reporting tool (Tableau, Spotfire,R)
  • Experience with UNIX/Linux including basic commands and shell scripting
  • Strong communication (written and verbal), and ability to execute autonomously and balance work priorities
  • Other tools: Google office suite, JIRA/Confluence, Visio
