Job Description

Our industry-leading client is seeking a Data Scientist to join their dedicated team in Stamford.

Responsibilities of the Data Scientist:

  • Plan and execute the complete analytics life cycle for analytics and modeling projects 
  • Survey varied data sources for analytic relevance, including distributed file systems, relational databases, flat files and external sources
  • Experiment, build, test, and maintain analytic/data science models
  • Drive, measure, and articulate business value
  • Build and enhance organizational capabilities in data science
  • Interpret, synthesize and communicate results of analysis to create action and changes within the organization
  • Collaborate across teams to integrate analytic products with existing production architectures, develop, execute and evaluate courses of action and socialize results

Requirements of the Data Scientist:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or Mathematics; MBA, other strong business background, or PhD preferred
  • At least 10 years of experience in data science
  • At least 10 years of business strategy with data analytics
  • At least 8 years of business analysis and SQL/R/SAS programming experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in a supervisory role
  • At least 5 years of experience in internal client relationship management
  • At least 2 years of experience in database design/modeling
  • Expert skills and experience with R (required) and/or Python (desired)
  • Broad experience and solid theoretical foundation on the modeling process using a variety of algorithmic techniques 
  • Data pre-processing, exploratory data analysis using a variety of techniques
  • Regression and classification under linear models, GLMs, and tree-based methods
  • Basic understanding of data architecture, data warehouse and data marts
  • Experience with Hadoop, particularly HIVE and Spark
  • Expert-level logical and analytic skills
  • Strong data synthesis and presentation skills
  • Experience with relational databases
