Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Hardware Technician with our industry-leading client in Boston.

Responsibilities of the Hardware Technician:

  • Receive new computer/peripheral hardware orders on loading dock and validate deliveries are correct. Document equipment in inventory system.  Image, configure and deploy technology for customer use. Also decommission / de-install old equipment as needed, properly dispose of hardware, and update inventory records (30%). 
  • Proactively maintain clients-owned hardware including desktops, laptops, servers, telephones, printers, tablets, and peripherals.  Respond to customer tickets, troubleshoot & resolve hardware incidents emphasizing first-call resolution.  Set customer expectations for resolution and communicate throughout the lifecycle of ticket resolution.  Maintain computer and parts (whole and spare) inventory for rapid ticket response and to minimize customer downtime.  Assist Infrastructure Team diagnose and resolve network hardware issues as requested (55%).  
  • Provide technical support to projects as assigned; most commonly new hardware refreshes, event support, office moves, and evaluation/recommendation of new hardware standards (15%). 

Requirements of the Hardware Technician:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience and 3-5 years experience providing hardware technical support to customers.
  • Dell & Apple hardware support certifications required.  
  • Perform support onsite including screen, logic board, and memory replacements. 
  • Software proficiency including Windows & Mac OS, MS Office, VoIP phones, and Google Mail/Apps.  
  • Knowledge of scripting and automation tools a plus! 
  • Working knowledge of enterprise network systems, including remote access systems such as VPN.
