Job Description:
Our client, a leader in the Financial Industry, has an immediate need for a Lead Application Support Engineer to work on a 10-month contract to hire position in Atlanta, GA.   This consultant will help lead a production support team responsible for Tier 2 production support of Database (Oracle, PL/SQL), Java Applications, Middleware Systems, Actimize and Mainframe Systems working on a team of 19 (7 onsite and 12 experienced offshore).  The Lead Application Support Engineer will lead triage of issues and handle conversations with internal and external stakeholders (vendors, business owners, and application development Tier 3 team) to resolve system issues.  The work will be 80% hands-on and 20% leadership focusing on systems that deal with Financial Crimes (Fraud, AML).   This person should have a Production support background, strong SQL and Unix or Linux experience and experience supporting Oracle Database Applications, Java, Middleware systems, or Mainframe systems.  This job will not require hands-on coding but someone with an application development production support background would be a good fit.  This Engineer will also need to be familiar with Monitoring tools (client uses Splunk and Jaws for batch monitoring).  The role will be on-call on a rotating schedule typically 1 week a month.   This engineer will help also help improve processes and implement new processes to improve operations as needed. 

Responsibilities:
• Resolves highly complex technical issues for client’s applications software.
• Performs problem tracking, diagnosis and root-cause analysis, replication, troubleshooting, and resolution for highly complex issues. 
• In this capacity, oversees others who perform programming and debugging activities. 
• Responds to issues in a timely manner by receiving and investigating incidents or service tickets. 
• Provides technical consultation on extremely challenging or unusual situations. 
• May lead large, complex projects related to improving processes or support capabilities.
• May engage and mange external vendors. 
• Interprets internal/external business challenges and recommends best practices. 
• Uses sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgment and identify innovative solutions. 
• Mentors less experienced teammates to build technical expertise. 
• May have people management responsibilities.

Must Have Skills:
• Past Production Support experience is a must in the Banking domain.
• Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of experience in development or production support or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. 
• Production Support experience in 1 more of the following domains: RDBMS (Oracle, PL/SQL), multi-dimensional database, Strong SQL skills, ERP systems, Client/Server, Unix, Distributed ( e.g. JAVA, J2EE, .Net, Middleware, Web Services), Mainframe (COBOL).
• Strong leadership and communication skills. 

Preferred Skills:
• Experience supporting Actimize - Anti-Money Laundering software (AML) is a huge plus! 
• Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence, ETL tool experience is nice to have as well
