This position will handle a variety of responsibilities including: configuring, monitoring and maintaining Oracle database systems. Additionally, this position is responsible for ensuring that all assigned databases operate at optimum levels. The candidate must possess strong verbal and written communication skills. The candidate should also be comfortable working in a dynamic team environment directly supporting a high profile government agency customers and willing to work flexible hours. On-call and after hours support is a requirement of this position.

This position is 100% remote.

  • 6+ years of professional experience in a large-scale and diverse IT and Oracle database environment, including an appropriate level of experience with Oracle database products and tools.
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle database builds, configurations and ongoing support
  • Support, monitor, test and troubleshoot Oracle database software problems.
  • Perform and coordinate effective installation and performance of advanced Oracle database system software on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Oracle Exadata and Solaris servers.
  • Install new Oracle database software releases, system upgrades, evaluate and install patches, and resolve Oracle database software related problems.
  • Plan and perform appropriate procedures, documentation and other procedures related to IT.
  • Maintain, monitor, analyze Oracle database system components and make recommendations for database system improvements.
  • Available to work flexible schedules for after-hours / on-call support.
  • Work effectively in a self-directed, customer-focused and dynamic IT environment.
  • Oracle 11g and 12c database administration experience on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Oracle Exadata (required) and Oracle Solaris 10 (preferred).
  • Experience with design and installation of Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) and Oracle Automatic Storage Management (ASM).
  • Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), Cloud Control installation, configuration, administration and monitoring of Oracle databases.
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle Database builds, configurations and ongoing support.
  • Ability to perform Oracle database diagnostics and analyze database performance.
  • Strong problem determination/resolution skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in dynamic team-focused and customer-facing environment.
  • Self-starter that requires minimal supervision and can provide oversight for any assigned projects.
  • Thorough knowledge of Oracle Database product and server administration principles.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Able to apply a structured methodology for Oracle Database operations activities.
  • Experience with ITIL-based incident, change and problem management tools is desired.
  • Must be a US Citizen or a US Permanent Resident and qualify for a Public Trust clearance.
