Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Principal Software Engineer with our industry-leading client in Pittsburgh, PA. This role is primarily focused on working collaboratively to deliver efficient, innovative software products of the highest quality, and leads self-directed teams to successfully execute against Department goals in support of corporate vision and strategy.  Partners closely with technology and business stakeholders on project planning, leads the scrum team, champion’s continuous improvement, and partners with the project owner in the responsive delivery of solutions

Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellence in management and leadership for a single team to help achieve company objectives.
  • Responsible for the overall quality and delivery of one or more applications.
  • Assist in establishing individual and department level goals (SMART). Tracks and delivers metrics to ensure objectives are met.
  • Help to attract, recruit, retain and develop top engineering talent.
  • Embraces all Engineering facets - Engineering, QA & DevOps. Works closely across functional teams, striving to deliver a high quality product to market in an automated fashion.
  • Understand the customer and the purpose your products are serving to meet the customer’s needs.
  • Collaborate effectively with business and technology teams to ensure organizational effectiveness and take advantage of existing solutions and synergies where possible.
  • Ensure staff understand and adhere to corporate policies and procedures
  • Handle escalations that cannot be resolved independently by direct reports, and escalate to more senior management as appropriate
  • Assist in delivery of Technology Roadmap while meeting a defined budget.

Requirements:

  • Should have experience using TFS/VSTS and leading agile development teams;
  • Typically 5 or more years’ experience of related professional experience (prior software engineering experience preferred)
  • 2+ years managing a multi-functional engineering team and 2+ years as senior level engineer is preferred.
  • Should have experience with .Net Framework 4.6.1 or .Net Core 2.1 and Oracle or any relational database.
  • Experience with Angular or Aurelia is preferred
  • Extensive experience building, scaling and refining cloud services
  • Should have experience with monitoring tools such as Kibana and AppDynamics;
  • Must have experience with solving application performance issues;
  • Strong technical skills
  • Develop yourself professionally in the areas of technology and leadership
  • Ability to motivate others
  • Good coaching skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • An emerging servant leader with a demonstrated ability to support self organizing teams.
  • Ability to make decisions and escalate to leadership only when needed.
