Job Description

Eliassen is currently assisting an IT operations expert in finding a Splunk Engineer / Architect to support a federal customer in the Greenbelt / Bowie, MD area.

Due to federal security clearance requirements, only US Citizens who can obtain a Public Trust clearance will be considered. 

Responsibilities of the Splunk Engineer: 

  • Install, administer, operate, and maintain Splunk technology 
  • Provide design and architecture expertise for Splunk infrastructure requirements, software configurations, and deployment maintenance 
  • Interpret and develop content for Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) products
  • Create reports as needed for management and compliance
  • Assist with development of new applications, views, dashboards, etc. 
  • Mentor junior resources and clients
  • Identify new opportunities to use Splunk within the agency
  • Test, identify and correct defects 
Requirements of the Splunk Engineer: 
  • Bachelor's Degree and 3+ years of demonstrated experience using Splunk (Design, implementation, operation, maintenance) 
  • Splunk Admin Certification (Power User SE 1) 
  • Experience with Splunk 6.x and 7.x (Subject Matter Expert) 
  • Experience with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM)
  • Multi-platform scripting abilities (PowerShell, Bash, Python, etc.)
  • Knowledge of security policies (FISMA, NIST, etc.) 

It's a plus if you have:

  • Splunk Architect certification 
  • Hands-on experience with tools like Ansible or Puppet
