Responsibilities of the z/OS Mainframe Systems Programmer:
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement DB2 v12 into the production environment
  • Maintain and upgrade other third party products
  • Mentor less experienced staff
  • Participate in rotating on-call support
  • Participate in monthly and bi-annual disaster recovery exercises 
Requirements of the z/OS Mainframe Systems Programmer:
  • Broad knowledge of mainframe-related concepts: z/OS, TSO, ISPF, HMC, systems performance, monitoring
  • Knowledge and experience performance tuning a z/OS environment, including Workload Manager
  • Experience using SMP/E and other tools to maintain, download, install, and upgrade various software products
  • Familiarity with DB2 and CICS desired
  • Knowledge of storage components preferred
  • Excellent issue identification and resolution skills
