Job Description

The Software Asset Manager is responsible for the analyzing and tracking of software within the organization. Partner with key business leaders to track, manage, analyze, and evaluate software licenses using an assessment management system. Provides expertise and guidance around procedures and best practices around tracking the life cycle of licenses. This position will ensure asset and license usage is meeting agreed upon levels. Leading a team of analyst for the enterprise to track license compliance.

Key Responsibilities of the Software Asset Manager: 
  • Providing software acquisition support, software inventory management support, and monitoring software license usage for compliance, and providing support in regards to the most efficient software license usage and modeling in support of the established processes and tools. 
  • Drives the development and continued improvement of software license and other IT Asset Management tracking and reporting. Managing software licenses that have been procured or transferred, maintaining all billing information associated with all software, and monitoring and managing software usage. 
  • Identifies and remediates process gaps within the software renewal management process and/or software asset lifecycle. Works with Platform owners to review license usage and ensure compliance. Validates remediation if needed. 
  • Manages team of analysts to support software asset lifecycle utilizing tools and knowledge. 
  • Works with platform owners, procurement and software vendors to ensure software entitlements and contractual data is accurately captured and maintained throughout process.
  • Providing advice, recommendations, and document support in all areas of the software licensing lifecycle and providing software vendor audit support.       
  • Managing software assets throughout the software acquisition lifecycle using business tools. 
  • Participates in stakeholder groups to help identify and analyze opportunities for improved asset usage across functional areas.
