Responsibilities of the Scrum Master:

  • Personify Scrum and Agile to lead by example following a servant-leadership style
  • Provide support to the product owner and development team on Agile/Scrum best practices
  • Guide and coach Scrum and development teams on how to get the most out of self-organization
  • Assess Scrum maturity of the team and organization; coach team to higher levels of maturity at a sustainable pace
  • Remove impediments or guide team to remove impediments to success
  • Build a trusting, cooperative, and safe work environment where problems can be raised and addressed without retribution or judgement
  • Facilitate discussion, cooperation and collaboration, decision-making, and conflict resolution

Requirements of the Scrum Master:

  • At least 1 year of experience as a Scrum Master for multiple teams
  • First level Scrum Master certification - PSM I, CSM
  • Strong knowledge of servant-leadership, facilitation, conflict resolutions, and transparency
  • Ability to leverage situational awareness, continual improvement, and empowerment
  • Knowledge of patterns and techniques for filling in intentional gaps left in Scrum approach
  • Ability to distinguish between "Scrum" and "not Scrum"
  • Knowledge of technologies used team is a plus
