Job Description

Are you a skilled Cyber Security Analyst with an active CompTIA Security+ certification? Are you interested in working for a leading scientific organization? If so, we may have the ideal role for you with our client in Lexington!

Due to federal security clearance requirements, applicant must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident with the ability to pass a CBI and obtain at least interim Secret clearance prior to start.

Responsibilities of the Cyber Security Analyst:

  • Provide daily support and maintenance of infrastructure security systems
  • Perform system troubleshooting, vendor coordination, OS patching, and updating
  • Monitor performance metrics and log data for continuous improvement
  • Help to evaluate potential security software, tools, or devices
  • Help to test new network security systems and changes to existing network security devices
  • Participate in cyber security working groups and monitor malicious cyber activity
  • Develop metrics and presentations to demonstrate the effectiveness of threat assessment team
  • Develop and publish threat assessment reports as required

Requirements of the Cyber Security Analyst:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical discipline
  • CompTIA Security+ certification or equivalent designation 
  • Knowledge of DoD and NIST security standards and protocols
  • ITIL v3 Foundations certification
  • Strong working knowledge of infrastructure security systems/technologies
  • Experience with enterprise log management platforms, such as Splunk
  • Experience with firewalls, Web Proxy, IDS/IPS systems, and full packet capture systems
  • Strong understanding of network routing and switching and TCP/IP protocols
  • Strong working knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Scripting skills in Perl or Python
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Excellent collaborative skills to achieve organizational objectives
  • Strong consensus building among stakeholders and colleagues
