Network Engineer

This role requires strong experience working in a fast-paced environment, capable of critical thinking and decision making and providing resolution guidance during network emergencies. Works closely and collaborates with peers on team and external teams on team-based initiatives. Participate in decision making, planning and implementation of new technology solutions to organization. Operational expectations include but are not limited to the technical stewardship in the areas of research and development, technical implementations, infrastructure support and escalation, systems and policy documentation, supporting security and compliance processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the management of all aspects of the enterprise network.
  • Implement and support network firewalls, routers, switches and other network appliances and services.
  • Participate in multiple network projects simultaneously while maintaining daily operational excellence for all enterprise networks.
  • Define the patterns and practices needed for consistent high-quality execution based on organizational SLA and business expectations.
  • Work with other teams to identify and build appropriate incident response and support capabilities.
  • Provide reporting to the Network Operations Manager in areas such as team quality, execution, skills development, team capabilities, etc.
  • Develop and champion implementation, quality control, change control standards and close any gaps in the existing documentation of the infrastructure.
  • Keep teams, management and others involved apprised of critical support issues and risks to project success.
  • Key player in the recommendation, direction and facilitating action between the Information Security Office and the Network Operations Team, including the ownership of the findings lifecycle.

Experience Required:

  • 5+ years relevant experience in support & implementation role of supporting large heterogeneous enterprise network infrastructure.
  • Experience with ASA and Palo Alto Firewalls
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community and ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
  • Cloud platform experience with AWS and/or Azure is preferred
  • LAN, WAN, VoIP, wireless and routing technologies such as OSPF, BGP, MPLS, VPN (GRE & L2L), QoS, HSRP and GLBP
  • Cisco Hardware: ASA, Nexus, ASR, ISR, UCS networking
  • Familiar with troubleshooting Cisco Unified Communications suite, telecommunications and voice networks.
  • 5 Load-balancers and remote access systems (APM & LTM).
  • Experience working with incident and issue tracking systems
  • Good knowledge and experience working with global and local telco carrier service providers.
  • Experience dealing with remote/field site outages, testing, troubleshooting and coordination of service restoration with remote-hands is a desired.
  • Ability to manage situations of catastrophic failure or of a high risk and critical nature.
