Job Description

Eliassen Group Agile Team Coaches work with specific software development teams to assist them in implementation and improvement of their Agile Practices. Agile Team Coaches stand up development teams and work with them to become self-organizing and effective in their use of Agile Practices.

Responsibilities of the Agile Team Coach:

  • Conduct practice observations and communicate immediate feedback (coaching) to teams and individuals
  • Establish rapport and build relationships with teams. Create a trusting environment for software development teams and facilitate collaboration
  • Stand up teams including team working agreement, definition of done, definition of ready backlog creation, and refinement
  • Immediately identify impediments and anti (success) patterns and coach on the best ways to resolve
  • Facilitate the creation of an Agile transformation backlog, stand up an Agile Office/Agile Center of Excellence, and engage with internal Agile champions on performing an Agile transformation
  • Collaborate on the best way to address highest priority backlog, own and deliver on agreed action items to ensure agile transformation team success
  • Provide as needed training to executives, Agile teams, and other stakeholders
  • Provide subject matter expertise on a wide range of Agile topics including: Scrum, Lean, Test Driven Development, Retrospectives, Product Ownership
  • Deliver presentations and lunch and learns to help raise awareness of the benefits and impacts of the Agile adoption throughout the organization to create a supportive environment for Agile adoption

Requirements of the Agile Team Coach:

  • 3+ engagements working as an Agile Coach with multiple software development teams (7-10 team members) to mentor on Scrum and Agile best practices
  • Strong understanding and ability to articulate the business value of specific Agile Practices (i.e. answer the question “why do we do it this way?”)
  • Ability to coach and train teams on adoption of “the agile mindset”
  • Strong facilitation skills with the ability to understand organizational challenges, work with key team members & leadership to get impediments resolved
  • Ability to mentor Product Owners and Scrum Masters and help define roles and responsibilities for each on the Scrum team
