We have an exciting opportunity for a Linux Engineer with our industry-leading client in CITY.

Due to federal security clearance requirements, applicant must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident with the ability to obtain a [Public Trust/Secret/Top Secret] Clearance. Responsibilities of the Linux Engineer:

  • Plan, design and implement software services and upgrade Red hat Linux OS on a virtualized platform
  • Perform Unix\Linux operating system and system administration, account management and provisioning activity
  • Install and maintain UNIX and Red Hat Linux Server operating system and various Linux applications and services such as Apache, TomCat, Kerberos, LDAP, MySQL, Satellite
  • Server, Bind, and Postfix, Bash, Python, and Perl scripting.
  • Troubleshoot and perform Unix\Linux related break fix incidents including emergency after hours support
  • Perform Unix\Linux changes as required and respond to outage resolution requests promptly
  • Some on-call responsibility for emergency situations may be required
  • Develop and analyze highly complex system standards, thresholds, and recommendations to maximize system performance
  • Analyze Unix\Linux OS cyber security vulnerability scan reports and apply timely vendor patches
  • Be able to work some nights and weekends and function in an on-call role on a rotational basis. Strong Sys. Admin. Troubleshooting and technical competencies
  • Implement and maintain PKI Infrastructures, server certificates, Certificate Authority, Secure DNS (DNS SEC)
  • As needed perform backup SAS administrator duties; includes providing operational enhancements, maintenance and support of the SAS GRID Platform

Requirements of the Linux Engineer:

  • 8+ years of experience:
    • Configuring, monitoring and maintaining RedHat Linux operating systems in a dynamic, virtualized environment
    • Proactively handling escalated incidents or high critical tickets, predicting risk/impact and participating in major changes
    • Report system faults and proactively perform Unix\Linux diagnostic testing and capacity planning
    • Working with design principles and applications
  • 5+ years of experience:
    • Providing root cause analysis on the major incidents/problems
    • Solving real-time challenges with the help of other systems administrators and fellow engineers
    • Detail-oriented communicators who are proficient with Linux and Unix technologies
    • Experience with implementing and maintaining the PKI Infrastructures, server certificates, Certificate Authority, Secure DNS (DNS SEC)
    • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and contribute independently with minimal supervision
  • 3+ years of experience:
    • Administering Amazon Web Services Cloud is required
    • Advanced Linux System Administration, Configuration, and System Security (including installation and configuration of a Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Unix systems
    • Effectively deploying, managing, and operating the AWS platform
    • Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA)
    • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional is preferred
