Overview

The SAP Project Manager will lead strategically important software development initiatives and be responsible for the planning and execution of these projects.   This position has primary responsibility for planning, managing and executing projects, ranging from medium to large-scale IT projects of various levels of scope, complexity, duration and project team size. We are frequently executing multiple simultaneous projects that need experienced Project Management leadership. These range from enhancements and upgrades to full-scale implementations. This role will manage project teams consisting of 10-50+ business analysts, technology engineers, external consultants, and/or business personnel. Develops, oversees and manages project budgets.

Responsibilities:

•            Leads the delivery of medium to large initiatives (enterprise- wide, unit-specific and tactical operational projects).

•            Ensures alignment of project stakeholders via superb communications, influencing, and relationship building.

•            Oversees all project activities and overall delivery.

•            Simultaneously leads multiple projects, coordinating resources across IT and within the business operating units.

•            Partners with the respective Business Leaders and associated IT Managers/Directors to ensure a quality delivery of project deliverables.

•            Ensures project activities are aligned to deliver the identified technology strategies, and business goals / objectives, while meeting quality, scheduling, budget, and IT standards requirements.

•            Through project deployment, fosters and guides full adoption of tools, services and common business processes, and cultivates super-users to strengthen solution ownership and self-sufficiency.

•            Drives the importance of Testing / QA practices / Security, as well as IT and business cross-training across all project initiatives.

•            Ensures internal controls and compliance requirements are consistently practiced and maintained.

•            Working in conjunction with the IT Directors and respective management team members, provides accurate project timelines and cost estimates for the analysis, construction, testing and implementation phases of projects. Ensures project activities and resources are allocated to align with the priorities established by business.

•            Active participation with the IT and Business Management Teams to develop and measure project success criteria and return on investment.

•            Champions improved inter-departmental relationships through effective project communications and practices.

•            Advocate for change management with an empathy for relationships and positions.

•            Focus on business value and change management, with an emphasis on process improvement, standardization and automation

•            Communicates and provide transparency on project status for a range of stakeholders

•            Thoroughly document meetings including action items, expected and communicated delivery dates, and open items needing further work or follow-up

•            Demonstrate extraordinary critical thinking and process management skills.

Requirements:

•            8 - 10 years progressive experience in leading the deployment of medium to large scale SAP and other IT initiatives

•            Technical skills for understanding the development, configuration, implementation and support of business solution

•            Must have solid understanding of technical application and data architecture

•            Must demonstrate change leadership skills: ability to effectively manage communication, negotiate successful outcomes, identify risks, engage correct stakeholders, etc.

•            B.S. degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS or equivalent, or equivalent years of professional experience in a relevant field

•            Experience with multi-vendor relationships and 3rd party management

•            Strong organizational and time management skills

•            Good verbal and written presentation skills including comfort working with executive leadership and high profile customers

•            Strong presentation and communication skills

•            Proven ability to manage budgets for projects greater than $500K

Preferred Experience:

•            Strongly prefer PMI or equivalent certification / relevant experience.

•            SAP experience (SAP ECC Experience in SD/MM/PP/FI/CO/HCM Modules) in a functional/technical/BW role

•            Experience leading projects with international organizations with diverse cultures, business operations and organizational needs.

•            Contractor and vendor relationship experience, particularly regarding SAP, including Software Licensing and Professional Services agreements, outsourcing service models, and ASP / hosting agreements.
