Eliassen’s Agile Consulting Practice has a unique opportunity for a Scrum Master to join the Agile Transformation at our 100+ year old, New England Insurance client as they start to scale their Agile Journey company-wide!  You will have the opportunity to use your Agile experience in this unique setting while collaborating with a community of Scrum Masters & Coaches. And, after 6 months, you have the option to sign-on as a full-time employee!  Your career will grow as the client’s Agile transformation continues to grow.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead multiple scrum teams in moderate to high complexity work streams
  • Oversee scrum process and coaches the teams on the use of scrum and Agile practices and methodology
  • Facilitate transparency, inspection, and adoption of Scrum
  • Organize and facilitate ceremonies, identify improvement opportunities to optimize velocity and quality while mitigating risk. Track and communicate the overall team progress providing visibility to stakeholders. (Retrospectives, Sprint Planning, etc)
  • Serve as a filter to remove impediments to progress as identified by the team
  • Partner with the Product Owner to ensure the backlog items are prioritized based on business value and ready for the team
  • Arrange and facilitate daily stand-up meetings, demo and decision-making processes in order to ensure quick inspection and proper use of adaptation process
  • Ensure team adherence to agile principles
  • Provide coaching to the Scrum Teams on how to execute the Scrum framework
  • Teach team servant leadership
  • Provide project status updates, and other appropriate communication throughout the project lifecycle to all stakeholders
  • Generate project/portfolio metrics, validate service level compliance and develops actionable recommendations
  • Attend training and/or industry seminars as appropriate, to stay abreast of current technologies, trends and directions
  • Pursue professional designations, such as Certified Scrum Master and FLMI if not previously accredited

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 7 years’ experience, including project management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Previous experience as a Scrum Master or project manager is preferred
  • Professional designations – PMI-ACP or CSM designation preferred, FLMI (LOMA) designations are a plus
  • Working knowledge of Agile frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, XP
  • Working knowledge of Agile techniques such as User Stories, Continuous Integration, Test-driven Development, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Burn-down Metrics, Velocity
  • Domain knowledge and/or experience in the insurance industry is preferred
  • Experience with agile toolsets such as Jira and Confluence a plus
  • Able to work fast paced high expectation environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
